The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is offering guests yet another way to get into the Halloween spirit. Starting Oct. 18, guests may enter the Haunted Lagoon Pumpkin Carving Contest for the opportunity to win nightly prizes and qualify for the grand prize, which includes a private Haunted Lagoon canoe ride next year for a group of his or her closest friends.
“The Polynesian Cultural Center is a great place to get into the Halloween spirit as a family,” said Raymond Magalei, PCC director of marketing. “A new addition this year, the Haunted Lagoon Pumpkin Carving Contest is a perfect complement to our Haunted Lagoon canoe ride experience, allowing family members of all ages to get creative, show off their carving skills and potentially earn great prizes.”
Free to enter, the pumpkin carving contest will run in conjunction with Haunted Lagoon on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 18 to 23, then nightly from Oct. 25 to 30.
Finished, pre-carved pumpkins must be dropped off by 7 p.m. with completed entry forms. From 7:15 to 8:30 p.m., PCC guests will conduct judging via voting ballots. Winners will be announced at 9 p.m. (Entrants wishing to keep their creations may pick up their pumpkins after 9 p.m. All unclaimed pumpkins will meet their fates in the depths of the Haunted Lagoon, never to be seen again.)
Nightly winners will be chosen and awarded the following:
